♣ Here are all of Trey's personal stories
♣ And here are his appearances in general
Unfortunately, however, given his canon is kind of niche and obscure (and doesn't even have an official translation!) and the wiki is largely unhelpful summary-wise (it'd be real nice if there were episode summaries, but unfortunately...), I'm gonna have to give a rundown here, I am so sorry.
Okay, so! Trey Clover is a third-year student at Night Raven College--a magic school in the world of Twisted Wonderland--and the vice-prefect of the Heartslabyul dorm. He comes from the Rose Kingdom, like most of the others in his dorm, and is childhood friends with the prefect, Riddle.
♣ Pre-Canon
When Trey was 9, he and another boy by the name of Che'nya approached the window of another child in town--Riddle. Trey and Che'nya managed to coax Riddle to sneak out during his independent study time to play with them. This lasted for a little while, up until Riddle accidentally took too long to return one day and his mother found out. To say that the woman wasn't happy is one hell of an understatement. (Seriously, in the personal story for his dorm uniform, he mentions she stormed into the Clover home and lectured Trey and his family for five hours.)
Two years prior to canon, he starts attending Night Raven College, and at an unspecified point between then and the start of canon, he becomes the vice-prefect of the Heartslabyul dorm under Riddle.
♣ Episode 1
Trey's first appearance in the story of Twisted Wonderland proper is during Episode 1, which focuses on the Heartslabyul dorm. He first shows up at lunch during the protagonist's first day of class, and (along with Cater) tells them and Ace and Deuce about what the other six dorms at the school are like.
♣ Episode 2
Personality: Give us at minimum 2-3 full paragraphs of how you understand your character's personality. Talk about basic characteristics, any major developments over the course of their canon, their motives, their social behavior, strengths and weaknesses, and anything else you can think of that shows off your knowledge of this character.
- laidback and lenient
- ... too lenient, tends to coddle and spoil Riddle in particular
- however, he's not SO lenient he'd let Riddle get away with literal murder
-
Trey is the Heartslabyul dorm's reliable big brother, the lenient vice-prefect who serves as a sharp contrast to Riddle. Where Riddle is temperamental and strict, and insistent on following each of the Queen of Hearts's rules to the letter, Trey is far calmer, much more laid-back, and only has half of those rules memorized. (Which, like, fair. There's 810 of those things.) As lenient as he is, however, the Trey Clover at the start of Episode 1 could easily be considered too lenient--it's less being too lenient with the other residents of Heartslabyul, and more being too lenient with Riddle. It's repeatedly said that he coddles his best friend (Ace and Cater in particular call this tendency out), and Trey himself admits that he has a hard time scolding Riddle because of the younger boy's background. (And, I mean, let's be real here, he was honestly too close to be objective about the matter--his friendship with Riddle made Mrs. Rosehearts even worse. He's a teenager! What was he supposed to do?) On the other hand, while he enabled Riddle and let him get away with more than he should without trying to stand up to him, Trey did draw a line. Eventually. Riddle well and truly nearly goes too far in a fit of rage, nearly does something he can't take back, and Trey finally steps up. It's both looking after his underclassmen and keeping Riddle from doing something he'd likely regret after the fact. Once Riddle's Overblot is dealt with, Trey openly admits his treatment of Riddle was the wrong way to go about things. He's trying.
When it comes down to it, though, Trey cares a lot about the people around him, even if he approaches it incorrectly sometimes. He looks after underclassmen in Heartslabyul like he would his own younger siblings. He notes Cater's likes and dislikes--taking particular note of Cater's dislike of sweets, for instance. His interaction with Vil in Vil's labcoat personal story, when it isn't gossiping about Rook, mostly consists of Trey trying to get Vil to relax and eat some damn cake. In a recent event, he takes a cooking class--something he's perfectly capable of doing already!--in order to learn how to teach people to cook (after all, he's not going to be around much to do it for his fourth year!). In his personal story for that same event, he anticipates things like Vil's careful watch over his diet (replacing the sort of flour used in a pizza dough), or Kalim getting carried away with his dish and having to redo it (he makes an extra pizza for Ruggie, who was meant to judge Kalim's dish). He's a patient guy, who will gladly help others out! That said... like most people, his patience isn't infinite. It's very possible for his patience to not only wear thin, but wear out. You don't want to be the one to make his patience wear out. Trey is a textbook case of "beware the nice ones," something pointed out by Cater in Trey's dorm uniform personal story, when Ace wonders aloud where the kind and mature Trey has gone. When he's actually angered, Trey remains calm,
